About this place
Ayamonte is the first village on the Spanish side of the Guadiana River. Why is this among the tips for the Eastern Algarve? Now, it's really worth it. You can get there via the highway by car or by boat from Vila Real de Santa Antonio . The funny thing is that you literally and figuratively end up in a different country, the difference in language is logical, but also in house construction, dishes, clothing, appearance of the village, etc. and don't forget the time difference! It is an hour later than in Portugal.

And what else?
Ayamonte has a charming village square that can be incredibly lively and busy, especially on Saturdays. The Spaniards always look impeccably groomed (which is sometimes different in Portugal...). Enjoy delicious tapas or authentic paella here!
There is a botanical garden you can visit and also the zoo, both fun for young and old.

From the small harbor, you can take a boat to various places, as mentioned earlier to Portugal, but also to the beaches of Ayamonte. Furthermore, there is a beautiful golf course in Ayamonte where you can play. For more info about golf, click here .
What's fun to do?
Spain and Ayamonte stick to the siesta tradition, so shops are closed between 1:00 PM and 4/5:00 PM. It is a great time to go for a fantastic, leisurely lunch or visit the beach at Isla Canela. #tip - take a taxi
