About this place

This fishing town is located between Faro and Tavira. From Olhão you can take the ferry to the various islands off the coast for a day at the beach or a nice walk. The islands: Culatra, Farrol, Armona and Deserta, for example, are all different and definitely worth a visit.

Olhão itself is known for its beautiful and extensive market halls where they sell fresh fish, meat and vegetables 6 mornings a week. On Saturdays there is a farmer's market next to these red brick halls.

The center is also worth a stroll through, with narrow streets that lead to cozy squares and many nice shops. A walking route has been plotted with images and stories of local legends and stories.
